One self care routine you need in your life

One important thing that I have learned through my journey is taking care of one’s soul and mind. Our internal compass sets the tone for how we feel about ourselves and allows us to connect with the universe and God. All the decisions and choices we make are primarily determined by how we feel on the inside and how we perceive ourselves. You are what you see and feel. Breed positivity, and you will radiate, attract, and manifest positivity into being. I spent a proportion of my life running away from myself. The thought of just being alone with myself scared me because of how I felt about myself on the inside. I felt broken, anxious, and closed off. Peace was something I heard of in church and never imagined for myself. To the outside world I had it all together and looked the part, but I just longed to be whole and free on the inside.

I made poor choices and struggled to form relationships, but how could I have when I wasn’t right with myself. Surprisingly, I overlooked the most important message my inner self was trying to deliver to me. I chose to run away from myself instead of paying attention to how I felt on the inside. All I had to do was listen to my spirit as it highlighted the problems I had to work on: the brokenness, anxiety, and inability to love myself. All I had to do was dig deep, the problems had already been revealed, and I needed to do the work. When I sat with sadness, I learned the most important lesson. My spirit is my teacher and zone of genius whose sole purpose is to help me discover and be one with myself. Simply listen to your inner dialogue, and it will tell you a lot about what you need to work on. Is your dialogue positive, courageous, happy, or angry? What is your spirit prompting you to work on?

The world encourages us to focus on our exterior more, but ironically, it’s what happens within us that plays a pivotal part in where we end up in life. Making the right decisions comes from a place of wholeness and self-trust. It also comes from an acceptance of who we are. I only discovered who I truly was when I started to spend more time with myself, and it took me a while to get to that place. There were days when I gave up altogether, but I still carried on because I started to fall in love with what I was discovering. The more I spent time with myself without desiring someone else’s company, the more I became one with myself. I aimed to deal with any issue or problem revealed by watching videos on YouTube and reading books on the topics. As time went on, I began to make better choices and live for myself.

Just as we pamper our faces and hair, we also need to pamper our minds and spirit so they can help us to produce the best results in whatever we seek. Your zone of genius is inside of you, and as such, you must do everything possible to ensure that it operates at its highest level. I have found that creating a daily spiritual routine helps me remain centred and more focused, but It also allows me to calibrate myself and create the life I want. I start my day with prayer and set three intentions for myself for that day. I have observed that I am more in control of my day when I have clear intentions set out. I also give myself room to breathe by spending time in nature and doing something I love throughout the day. Simply put, I feed into my being what I would love to experience on the outside. You can also take care of your inner self through meditation, dealing with issues on the day they arise, sleeping, exercising, affirmations etc.

Some people show their spirit love through meditation, spending time in the presence of God, walking, or simply being still. What is it that you do after a hard day’s work to recoup? Do you even set aside time every day to rest and be still? Take time to enjoy your own company, listen to your favourite song or light some candles. Treat yourself to stillness, and amid that, you will hear your soul speak to you.
